Owasso, OK

Owasso is located in northeast Oklahoma at the base of the Ozarks Mountains. It has long been one of Oklahoma's most prominent cities, owing to its Quaker origins dating back more than 150 years.

It is near Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the south, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to the southwest. To the west lies Claremore, Oklahoma.

The name "Owasso" combines two separate Native American words - 'oo' meaning "place of," and 'wee sau' meaning chief or headman. Owasso's official motto, the Place of Chief, gives rise to its unofficial moniker as ``The Perfect Peace."

Owasso is also well-known for its outstanding schools and the town's successful backing of Oklahoma Christian University's sports teams, which have won numerous NAIA tournament titles in recent years.

Owasso is also ranked as one of the 100 best cities to live and raise a family by CNN Money. It's home to many successful business executives and entrepreneurs.

Places to See and Visit

The Owasso city park has a large pavilion that is frequently used for outdoor weddings and gatherings. It also features a lake on which ducks, geese, swans, and fish live. There are ponds and open areas where you may play Frisbee or toss a football in addition to the lake.

The Tulsa Zoo includes a petting zoo and camel rides; the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium; the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK; and several golf courses are among the activities located in Owasso.

Food and Entertainment

Many of Owasso's top restaurants are located on the east side of town, near N. 76th Street or the Oak Tree shopping center.

The Lakehouse Restaurant is a pub and restaurant with extensive dining options for every budget, from $10 to $30. There's Bennigan's, an Irish pub with a full menu and daily specials for more casual food. Jackalope Southwestern Grill, Texas Roadhouse, and El Chico's Mexican Restaurant are other options.

In terms of entertainment, there are several movie theaters in Owasso, including the Rose Bowl Lanes bowling alley and Oak Tree Golf Club.
