Recipe: Black Bean Brownies
Monday, March 15th, 2010Due to popular demand, we will be posting healthy recipes from time to time so you can apply the “Eat to Live” principles we talked about in the workshop. Check back often and forward our blog and suggest us to friends on Facebook so they can learn how to build more health and avoid becoming part of the poor health statistics in our country.

Today’s recipe is for Black Bean Brownies.

1 Can of Organic Black Beans(or prepare your own)
1/2 cup Cocoa
4 Tbsp. extra-virgin coconut oil(buy here: http://nutiva.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23 to save money by purchasing a gallon).
1/2 c. xylitol
2 level tsp. stevia powder (or add liquid stevia to desired sweetness)
1 tsp. organic vanilla extract (read the label and make sure there is no sugar hidden)
3 large free range eggs (Ask us about where to get great eggs)
1/2 c. gluten-free flour
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/4 c. water
Blend ingredients together in food processor. Grease pan with coconut oil and bake for 40 minutes @ 350 degrees.
McDonald’s Now a Health Food?
Sunday, March 14th, 2010The links to the articles posted below confirms the insanity that has taken our country by storm regarding our perceptions of what health is and how we go about achieving it. I highly encourage you to read them and watch the video. Our country as a whole continues to buy into the propaganda that being healthy has something to do with how one “looks” or “feels.” So much so, that we will go to any length to look a certain way or achieve a certain body image even if it means convincing ourselves that somewhere along the line McDonald’s food could help us achieve these goals. This is apparent in Weight Watcher’s current endorsement of McDonald’s chicken??McNuggets.
The main question I want you to ponder is this: Just because you lose weight, does that mean it is healthy for you and helping you in the long term? Couldn’t we simply weigh less and at the same time actually be destroying our bodies and getting sicker?
Along with the obesity epidemic we are currently faced with another epidemic, we are the sickest nation and generation, ever!! Obviously, obesity and poor health go hand-in-hand. However, we are seeing younger, skinnier, better looking(fit) people fall into the trap of chronic degenerative diseases that are a direct result of lifestyle choices, or lack of choices. Sure, you “look” great but in reality this is doing nothing for your health. In fact, it is only making your coffin a lighter load for the pall-bearers at your funeral.
Health is function and healing and is determined by: 1. Nerve Supply. The power that made the body heals the body. 2. Proper Diet/Nutrition (food by God) 3. Exercise/oxygen 4. Water 5. Detoxification. Toxicity “bogs” the body down and causes poor function 6. Time/Stress Management

Star Patient and Life Transformation of the Month
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010Each month at Complete Care Chiropractic we honor one of our hard-working patients for the time and commitment they have made to improving their health. Patients that are diligent about maintaining their care program may qualify and get rewarded for their hard work. In part, as a small recognition for their efforts each winner receives a $20 gift card to an area restaurant.
This month we are pleased to recognize Bryan. Bryan has applied the principals of true health to his life and, as a result, has seen miraculous changes. Read his story below, view his before and after pictures and listen to his testimonial on the website and facebook.
Bryan’s Story
In April of 2009 I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, also known as the “suicide disease.” It is a nerve disorder in the facial area. I was on strong pain meds for about three months before coming to Complete Care Chiropractic in July of 2009.
In June I was bitten by a tick and was diagnosed with Lone Star Tick fever. This is a life or death disease that causes nerve damage to survivors. I had a pinched nerve in my back and nerve damage in my right leg from the tick bite. I literally dragged my right foot along, unable to use it.
I was also diagnosed with diabetes in June of 2009, and was dependent on two types of insulin.
Since Starting treatment with Dr. Ben, I was able to completely stop taking pain medication. I am down to half of the insulin that I was first on. I do not drag my right foot any longer, because I can walk almost normally again. My entire right leg has started to rebuild muscle and most of the nerve damage is repaired.
The changes that Dr. Ben has made to my spine are phenomenal. He has, in my eyes given me back my life. The medical doctors at the hospital told me that I would most likely never use my right leg again. They had little hope of my recovery.
I would recommend Dr. Ben and his office staff to everyone that feels they have no hope of a better life. I am living proof of Complete Care Chiropractic and Dr. Ben Swacha’s amazing compassion and healing.
~Bryan G.
